We would like all Family Practitioners to know we are actively recruiting a 0.6 FTE GPO to join Dr. Katie Forman in the GP Oncology Program at KBRH. The selected physician will deliver a range of cancer services to patients with all possible tumor sites. They will help to manage oncology patients primarily in the outpatient setting but also support inpatient, indirect and remote care; this GPO will help care for patients throughout their entire treatment pathway including primary treatment through survivorship. The job would be to work in a rural community oncology clinic in a team based care model with supervision from both medical and radiation oncology in Kelowna or Vancouver area. Clinic currently has 2 GPO’s and we are looking to expand our coverage and provide clinic stability and sustainability. Responsibilities Supervise treatment using chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapy; provide patient education, supportive care, and end‑of‑life/palliative care planning. Maintain active communication and participation with multidisciplinary cancer program oncologist teams to ensure safe and effective care. Manage acute toxicities, dose adjustments, modify treatment plans, support infusions and create visit summaries. Provide ongoing surveillance and monitoring of patients who have completed treatment for recurrence or treatment‑related complications. Collaborate with specialists and other health professionals as part of an interdisciplinary team; consult with other health professions as appropriate. Act as a resource to oncology patients’ primary care provider and other health care providers on issues related to the care of cancer patients (e.g., guidance during work‑up of suspected cancer patients, referral process, sharing information related to management). The role is extremely interesting and profoundly meaningful to patients. There is no on‑call service or evening work associated with this role. No previous experience in oncology is required.
