The successful candidate will be appointed for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to work performance and funding availability. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026, or a date to be mutually agreed upon.Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The expected salary amount for the position is $80,000 per year.The position is subject to final budgetary approval.RESPONSIBILITIESThe Research Associate will:Manage partnership development with new and existing industry partners and manages relations with these partners.Coordinate engagement activities that support these partnerships, including facilitating meetings, project discussions, and other industry–university touchpointsManage the execution of projects in the research program including identifying key deliverables and ensuring their completion.Supervise and mentor postdoctoral fellows and graduate students and provide hands-on assistance.Perform other related duties as required.QUALIFICATIONSThe successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Mineral Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience. Applied extractive industry experience is an asset.The candidate must have experience with the operation of transcritical CO2 pulverization equipment.The candidate must have experience with comminution and ore mineralogy.A strong knowledge of thermodynamics and supercritical fluids.The candidate must have experience with the operation of mineral processing laboratory equipmentThe candidate must have a strong base of experience developing research projects.The candidate must possess excellent organizational skills, be attentive to details, and demonstrate strong management skills in handling multiple projects.The candidate should be highly collaborative, self-motivated, team-oriented, and have excellent oral and written communication skills.APPLICATION PROCEDURETo apply, please submit a cover letter outlining your relevant experience and research interests, along with a curriculum vitae via the UBC Careers website.
