Do you want to learn and grow in a supportive team of like-minded professionals who are passionate about structural transportation projects?Your opportunity:Dillon’s Transportation Practice is looking for a Civil Engineering Technologist focused on structural (bridge) CAD design/drafting to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals as we grow our structural design team. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while gaining valuable exposure and experience in the consulting engineering industry.At Dillon, we operate as one team nationally, however, this position will be based out of our Winnipeg or Calgary offices.ResponsibilitiesWhat your day will look like:Technical WorkCollaboration with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, scientists, and technical and administrative support staff in the development of detailed design contract packagesAssistance to project managers and engineers in the functional and detailed design of transportation structuresCompletion of detailed design drafting for a variety of project typesApplication of 2D and 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD and other specialty programs to produce design drawingsPreparation of construction drawings/documentsCalculation of quantity take-offs for concrete volumes, reinforcement, and miscellaneous steel for complex structuresAssistance with contract administration tasks including construction observation, shop drawing review, contractor submittal review, progress payment preparation, and responding to requests for informationCoordination and completion of site assessments, construction observation and construction management of site documentationBusiness travel to other Dillon offices upon requestLearning and DevelopmentA commitment to self-development and ongoing learning and professional developmentA commitment to career development supported by senior drafters and engineers with 20+ years of experienceOpportunity to enroll in Dillon’s early career development programQualificationsEducationDiploma program from an accredited Architectural or Engineering Technologist Program, or equivalentExperience0-5 years of experience in the engineering consulting industryStrong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skillsHighly organized and detail orientedProficient use of current AutoCAD and/or Revit software is considered an assetKnowledge of Civil 3D is considered an assetKnowledge of relevant municipal/provincial/industry engineering standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements is considered an assetUnderstanding of the range of project design and implementation activities including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract administration is considered an assetWhy choose DillonDillon is powered by people who are technically proficient, passionate about socially important projects, and motivated to deliver superior, tangible results.
