Regional District of Mount Waddington 7-Mile On-Site Supervisor (Solid Waste Operations) EXTERNAL JOB POSTING Department: OperationsStatus: Permanent Full-Time / 35 hrs. per weekPosting Date: January 5, 2026Posting Type: External – Bargaining UnitPosting Number: 202512-01Wage Range: $31.86 – $35.55/hour Position Overview The Regional District of Mount Waddington (RDMW) is seeking an experienced Solid Waste Operations Supervisor to provide operational leadership across the solid and liquid waste portfolio at the 7-Mile Landfill. This is a permanent, full-time unionized position of 35 hours per week, in compliance with the Collective Agreement between RDMW and USW Local 1-1937. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations across multiple facilities. Working closely with staff, contractors, and haulers, the position supports service continuity and maintains alignment with regulatory requirements. This position reports into the Operations Technician, Operations Project-Manager, Manager of Operations and in their absence the CAO Key Responsibilities Lead day-to-day operations at the 7-Mile facility while maintaining the full supervisory scope. Provide direct supervision and performance oversight for landfill staff, scale office clerk, and contractors. Ensure consistent operational practices and safety standards across all assigned sites. Maintain WorkSafeBC and environmental regulatory compliance. Coordinate contractors and haulers and monitor service delivery. Complete operational reporting, throughput metrics, environmental documentation, inventory tracking, and budget inputs. Track equipment performance, maintenance needs, and site assets across the region. Duties and Responsibilities Organize and maintain recycling collection systems at the 7-Mile facility. Source markets for recycled materials and arrange transportation. Supervise and maintain Product Care and other stewardship collection systems. Direct and control vehicle traffic and site visitors when necessary. Monitor inbound materials, divert recyclables and prohibited items, and report contamination issues. Maintain electric fences and report wildlife activity. Record leachate discharge levels and precipitation data daily. Keep grounds, fence lines, ditches, and signage clear and maintained. Maintain equipment including baler, forklift, salvage truck, and other site assets. Coordinate with landfill contractors on behalf of RDMW as required. Ensure compliance with RDMW Standard Operating Procedures and policies. Act as First Aid Attendant when assigned. Perform other related duties as required or assigned. Supervisory experience in municipal or private‑sector waste operations. Experience with liquid waste handling is an asset. Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence. SWANA certification (or ability to obtain). Knowledge of WorkSafeBC and environmental compliance requirements. Ability to manage operational reporting and basic budgeting.
