We’re a women‑founded, people‑first company passionate about simplifying HR, strengthening workplaces, and helping clients scale with confidence. Our team values authenticity, flexibility, and creative problem‑solving. We’re serious about delivering exceptional service - without taking ourselves too seriously. The Opportunity: The Compensation Consultant provides expert support to A&A Business Consulting’s internal consulting team by designing, assessing, and optimizing compensation programs that are competitive, equitable, and aligned with client organizational goals. This role operates behind the scenes, advising A&A consultants on compensation strategy, market analysis, salary structure design, job evaluations, and incentive program support. The consultant works remotely with flexible hours and contributes specialized expertise to help A&A deliver high‑quality compensation insights to its clients. Key Responsibilities: Compensation Program Design & Advisory Conduct job evaluations, advise on job architecture, and support leveling and career path framework recommendations for A&A’s client projects. Assist internal consultants in developing salary structures, compensation guidelines, and pay policy recommendations. Provide guidance on compensation considerations related to hiring, promotions, retention strategies, and organizational redesign. Perform internal equity assessments and prepare recommendations for consultants to deliver to clients. Market Research & Benchmarking Lead market pricing activities using compensation surveys, benchmarking tools, and industry research to support A&A client engagements. Advise internal consultants on labor market trends, competitive pay positioning, and compensation strategy options. Maintain benchmark data to support ongoing project work. Incentive & Variable Pay Support Assist internal consultants with the design, modeling, and evaluation of short‑term and long‑term incentive programs. Support annual compensation cycle work such as salary reviews, bonus modeling, and payout calculations for consultant‑led engagements. Ensure incentive program recommendations align with client goals and are clearly communicated through internal deliverables. Compliance & Best Practice Advisory Provide A&A consultants with insights on pay transparency, pay equity legislation, and compensation compliance requirements. Stay up to date on compensation trends, legislative changes, and industry best practices, and translate insights into actionable recommendations for consulting teams. Support the development of compensation communication materials and frameworks used in client deliverables. Data Analysis & Reporting Create compensation dashboards, analytics, and models to support A&A project work. Conduct compensation cost modeling and forecasting for consultants to use in workforce planning or organizational design recommendations. Analyze data and prepare insights related to market competitiveness, turnover, and compensation trends. Qualifications: Must‑Haves Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or related field 3–5+ years of experience in compensation, total rewards, or HR analytics; experience supporting consulting work is an asset. Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel/Sheets and HRIS/compensation systems. Experience with relevant compensation surveys (e.g., Mercer, Radford, Hays, Culpepper). Strong communication skills, with the ability to distill complex compensation concepts into clear recommendations for internal partners. Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple internal projects independently. Located in Calgary, AB (preferred). Work Style Fully remote independent‑contractor role with complete schedule flexibility. Work is non‑client‑facing and supports A&A consultants behind the scenes. Engagements and workload may vary based on active project volume. Why Join Us? Ultra‑flexible hours: Work when it works for you. Meaningful impact: Your work directly elevates a women‑founded company that prioritizes community, people‑first leadership, and giving back. Work‑from‑anywhere flexibility: Most to all work can be done remotely. Potential for growth: As A&A continues to scale, future part‑time hours or expanded responsibilities may emerge.
