Financial Analyst

Apex Systems is a global IT services provider and our consulting practice has an opening for a Financial Analyst. This person will highlight financial risks and compliance gaps within project portfolios ensure teams and project are running smoothly for a Top Five Bank.

Client: Big 5 Bank

Location: Toronto: Hybrid 1-2 days a week

Terms : 6 Month Contract: 37.5 hours/ week Strong possibility of extension based on project budget & candidate performance.

As a Financial Analyst, you will play a crucial role in our management team, delivering key insights, governance, and support to drive the success of the projects. This includes conducting monthly governance reviews, highlighting financial risks and compliance gaps within project portfolios. You will collaborate closely with project directors, finance and senior technology and business leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Conduct in-depth financial analysis and review of projects, ensuring to identify financial risks and accurate presentation of portfolio metrics.
  • Governance and Compliance: Develop, enforce, and maintain PMO governance standards, ensuring all projects adhere to financial protocols and compliance requirements.
  • Relationship Building: Respond promptly and professionally to project managers' inquiries and requests, delivering high-quality support ensuring project manager satisfaction. You will collaborate closely with project managers as part of the daily governance of your assigned project portfolios.
  • Business Case Support: Assist in the preparation and review of business cases, providing key financial insights and recommendations to support decision making.
  • Project Setup and Closure: Manage the financial aspects of project initiation and closure, ensuring accurate setup budget baselines are established and closed projects are fully reconciled.
  • Issue Resolution: Support the identification, analysis and resolution of financial issues, offering solutions and recommendations to project managers and senior leaders.
  • Training and support: educate team members on the impacts of general ledger entries on their budgets, fostering a deeper understanding of financial processes.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ yrs of of Financial analyst experience
  • Proficient in Excel: Advanced skills in Excel for data analysis, financial modeling, and reconciliation tasks.
  • Oracle Experience
  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial principles, general ledger entries and budget management.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
