This is a technically demanding, challenging and most rewarding role requiring a thorough understanding of civil structures with specialty in building envelope engineering and its application in failure investigations.Would you like to write CEP's future with us?The role:As a Civil Forensic Expert, you will:Perform and manage building science and structural failure investigations and determine root and cause of the failure and damage to buildings, foundations, structures, and building envelope mechanisms.Attend client meetings and on-site inspections, perform survey and condition assessment and gather evidence. Review technical documentation including drawings, standards, codes, regulations, material specifications, maintenance, modifications records, etc. Perform Provincial Codes and Standards compliance analysis and reviews. Determine circumstances surrounding the incident by capturing data, photographs, videos, and interviewing parties associated with the incident.Safely secure evidence for further analysis, and presentation to client and/or in court if required.Collaborate with other experts and practice leads to deliver holistic and robust analytical reports to clients. Provide expert testimony in the court, if required.Coach and mentor early career technical staff to support their professional development.Assist with new business development and represent the company with professionalism and expertise in client interactions and industry events.Always follow HSE guidelines, procedures, and policies. Ensure safety of self, others, and the assets.What you bring to the table:At least a bachelor’s degree in civil/ structural engineering and P. Eng. designation.Minimum 8 years of experience of failure and damage analysis, design, construction, maintenance of structures and building envelope mechanism of commercial, residential, institutional, and industrial buildings and infrastructure.Concern for efficiency, strong analytical, organizational and time management skills. Curiosity, good judgment, sense of initiative.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to write clear and concise investigation reports.Ability to work independently and as part of a team and commitment to staying current with industry developments and continuous professional development.A sense of humor that can brighten up people around you.A deep understanding of the power of laughter and its ability to make even the toughest of cases seem less daunting.But here’s the thing – we’re not just looking for someone who meets our requirements alone.
