Senior Accountant, Real Estate and Construction

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Real Estate/Construction Accountant on behalf of our client, one of Vancouver's most iconic developers.

Our client has a 30+ year history of developing multi-family projects in Metro Vancouver. They've delivered thousands of high-quality wood-frame and concrete homes in all of the major regions of the Lower Mainland.

Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare monthly progress draw
  2. Prepare bank reconciliations
  3. Code and enter invoices, ensuring accuracy along with collection of approvals and matching supporting documents
  4. Prepare payments; coordinate approval signatures
  5. Reconciliation of GL/WIP and GL/AP sub-ledger accounts
  6. Reconcile AP balance with suppliers; follow up on discrepancies
  7. Filing monthly GST returns
  8. Monitor and ensure accuracy of costs coded to assigned projects
  9. Monitor project costs and report unexplained variances
  10. Liaise with project managers, sub-trades, suppliers, management and other project staff
  11. Monitoring holdbacks, including reconciliation of release
  12. Maintain project related records
  13. Maintain integrity of GL for construction and development projects
  14. Follow all aspects of month-end close activities
  15. Inter-company reconciliation
  16. Research and respond to accounting and financial inquiries on projects
  17. Other functions or activities as may be assigned from time to time
Requirements:

You have 5+ years’ experience in a similar role. You are passionate about real estate and care that your work contributes towards the success of a project. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, are organized, and have exceptional communication and customer service skills. You have strong excel skills and experience with Sage 300CRE or any other real estate accounting software.
