OverviewEnvironmental Project Director position at BBA Consultants. The role focuses on developing, coordinating and executing environmental studies, government approval applications and environmental site management projects for the energy, mining and heavy industry sectors.ResponsibilitiesManage and lead all steps required to carry out projectsUnderstand the scope of responsibilities and associated challengesEstablish tasks to complete mandates and develop realistic budgets and schedulesCoordinate a team of biologists and environmental technicians under your responsibilityServe as a liaison between the senior manager and team members to establish the schedule, distribution of responsibilities and allocation of resources; request clarifications or additional information; report on work progressDevelop work protocols and estimate time as well as direct and indirect costsPerform and coordinate field surveys, analyses and studies, sampling, report writing and client presentationsCoordinate applications for government approvals and liaise with relevant authoritiesPlan and manage meetings internally with team members and externally with stakeholders or contractorsMonitor team member progress, assess performance and motivate them as neededEnsure deadlines are met and budgets are adhered to; renegotiate with senior management when necessaryMediate and resolve conflicts among team members and subcontractors; notify the immediate supervisor as neededProduce documents (impact studies, surveys, inventories, reports, follow-ups, etc.) adapted to clientsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Biology or other equivalent educationStrong knowledge of Québec’s Quality Environment Act and related regulatory schemesAt least 10 years of relevant experienceStrong technical and theoretical knowledge in water and natural environmental management and conservation, botany, ichthyology, agriculture, natural habitat restoration, environmental impact assessment, biophysical information collection and interpretation, and report writingExperience in environmental site monitoringAbility to recognize ecological and social complexities of project impactsExcellent communication skills in French (spoken and written)Advanced English to collaborate with BBA offices and/or clients outside Québec (frequency may vary)Available for short-term work assignments at client sitesAsset: master’s degree in Biology, Environment or relevant fieldAbout BBA and Total BenefitsOverview of total awards: base salary, premium programs for regular employees, time bank, onsite mobility premium, cellphone program, group insurance from day one, retirement saving plan, vacation and sick leave, referral and annual bonus programs, and comprehensive pension and insurance plansA flexible schedule combining office presence and remote workCaring, inclusive environment with flat hierarchy and high-tech workspacesProfit-sharing program and committees focused on diversity and social commitmentsGrowing business with opportunities and a focus on health, safety and environmentAbout BBAFor over 40 years, BBA has pushed the boundaries of engineering in the Energy and Natural Resources sector.
