Kotn is looking for a Senior Technical Designer to follow the technical development process from initial tech pack to production. As an essential part of the Product Design Team, you will be focused on knitwear development as well as provide support to the department manager across all categories when needed. This is an exciting opportunity; integral to the growth and success of Kotn.

What you’ll be working on:
  • Responsible for technical design & development of Mens & Womenswear knitwear categories.
  • Responsible for garment specifications and fit.
  • Develop detailed tech packs in a PLM system.
  • Conduct and review fits on mannequins and live models as necessary with the design team.
  • Ensure fit & finish consistency across styles.
  • Analyze design details to ensure quality & sewing/knitting requirements are met.
  • Reduce sample lead-time, troubleshoot solutions as necessary.
  • Create detailed technical sketches on illustrator in conjunction to providing clear sewing/knitting instructions.
  • Accurately measure samples, record findings, & highlight areas for improvement.
  • Inspect all samples to ensure requested construction and quality workmanship has been achieved.
  • Ensure product quality and performance at the top level through wear & wash testing.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to ensure the integrity of the design is maintained.
  • Ensuring deadlines are met, with the help of the team manager.
  • Organization & management of sample racks, submissions, and prototype cataloguing.
  • Follow and provide improvement on overall blocks across all categories, when needed.
What you’ll bring:
  • A minimum of 10 years of technical apparel development experience.
  • Expertise knowledge in Knitwear is a must, inclusive of stitches, gauges, linking methods, yarn behavior, and finishing.
  • Strong attention to detail, effective time management and multitasking skills.
  • Management & leadership skills, the ability to conduct projects for the betterment of the team and the company.
  • Ability to work in a professional, fast-paced environment and be willing to deal with shifting priorities.
  • Self-starter, driven by enhancing the quality and craftsmanship of each product.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to successfully work in partnership with Designers & Supply Chain.
  • Enthusiastic, can-do approach - No task too small attitude, willing to wear multiple hats in small team environment.
  • Passionate about the future of fashion and manufacturing, with a strong understanding of the ethical fashion landscape.
Additional Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design.
  • Proficient in Illustrator, Excel, Google Documents and File Management.
