OverviewWest Fraser, a leading producer of sustainable wood-based building products, is recruiting for a Millwright at our Edson division in Edson, Alberta. Our Edson facility is part of a broader group of operations across North America and Europe. As the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), you will be a key player in our continuous maintenance improvement program through daily troubleshooting and preventative maintenance strategies. You will work up to a shift millwright in the sawmill to troubleshoot and repair production equipment and maintain uptime in the facilities during production shifts.ResponsibilitiesMaintenance of pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings and hydraulics involved in the manufacturing process.Undertake preventative maintenance program for equipmentRead blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to repair equipment.Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set-up and repair of equipment and machineryInspect and examine machinery and equipment and repair as required.Repair and assemble hydraulic equipment and cylindersVerify and document repairs madeUse knowledge and skills to recognize opportunities for improvements and savingsQualificationsA valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Millwright CertificationAbility to read blue prints, plans and schematicsMechanical aptitude; excellent problem-solving skillsCommitment to working safely and creating a safe work placeStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently with little supervisionOrganizational and planning skillsFlexible schedule to work day, evening, weekend and graveyard shiftsAssetsPrevious experience working in a sawmill or planer millA Red Seal CertificateA Welding CertificateKnowledge of hydraulicsCompensation PackageOutstanding benefits package including medical, dental, pension, life insurance, disability, accident insurance, vacation, and holidaysRelocation PackageYour Workplace LocationExperience the allure of Edson, Alberta, with this exciting opportunity in the heart of Yellowhead County.
