The branch leases petroleum and natural gas rights (PNG), geothermal and pore space rights owned by the Province of Alberta to oil and gas companies so that they can explore for and develop these resources. If so, a Land Analyst position with PNG Tenure may be the role for youThe Well Administration and Unit Agreement team within PNG Tenure Operations is seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative, and highly organized Land Analyst. Data review and associations between wells and agreements, Crown authorizations and unit agreement contracts using legislation and policies are a large portion of the role. These activities involve intuitive reasoning and must be accurate to properly support decisions for lease continuation, Crown royalty and freehold mineral tax.Reporting to Team Lead, Wells & Units, the Land Analyst will be responsible for making decisions that have a direct impact on industry and the development of PNG, geothermal and pore space resources within the province. Their primary responsibility is to review, analyze and respond to industry requests and process a variety of applications using technical skills and knowledge.As a Land Analyst, you will manage complex legal agreements, interpret technical data, and ensure compliance with legislation under the Mines and Minerals Act. You’ll work closely with industry stakeholders, legal teams, and internal departments to issue approvals, process applications, and maintain accurate land and mineral records. Your decisions will have immediate and lasting impacts on resource development and industry operations across Alberta.Your responsibilities are not limited to:Create, review, and amend PNG agreements and legal documents.Process applications for continuation, validation, offset notices, and lease expiries.Interpret well data and collaborate with geologists to issue approvals.Manage mineral rights data across multiple land systems (e.g., AMI, ETS, LAMAS).Register court orders and statutory declarations.Identify and investigate trespass or unauthorized activity.Communicate with industry and internal stakeholders regarding approvals and decisions.Support audits, historical searches, and legal restrictions on agreements.Contribute to operational improvements, reporting, and team development.Please click on this link to view the job description for this position.Competencies are behaviors that are essential to reach our goals in serving Albertans.
