In the role, you will: Provide expert advice on applying natural resource management legislation, policy, and regulation within the context of the Crown’s duty to consult. Support and/or lead consultation and negotiations with Indigenous communities. Provide guidance to internal staff and external clients on meeting legal and policy obligations. Coordinate regional implementation of natural resource management programs and initiatives related to Indigenous peoples. Participate in policy development and contribute to project teams. Provide analysis and recommendations related to Indigenous programs, policies, and outcomes. What you bring to the team Indigenous knowledge and technical expertise Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous history, culture, treaties, and associate rights in Ontario. Understanding of issues, trends, and intergovernmental relations affecting Indigenous peoples. Knowledge of natural resource management principles, policies, and best practices. Communication and relationship‑building Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with Indigenous communities andологических stakeholders. Written and verbal communication skills to prepare and deliver materials for a variety of audiences. Demonstrated political acuity, tact, and discretion in handling sensitive issues. Policy, research and analytical skills The ability to interpret legislation, policy and regulation to ensure compliance with Indigenous‑related requirements. Analytical skills to assess information and develop evidence‑based recommendations. The ability to evaluate and communicate implications of natural resource management decisions. Planning and coordination The ability to lead strategic planning, develop work plans, and manage project financials.
