Compensation:  $20 – $25/ hour

The Job – Labourer

Labourers at On Side are important team members who, help rebuild and restore damaged personal and commercial property, anywhere and anytime disaster strikes. Labourers are the MVP of the restoration teams. Willing to learn, love being taught and full of ambition the Labourer knows they’re going places in life and this is the first stop on the way to success

What you bring…

Labourers bring a host of abilities to their work, not the least being a ‘get it done’ attitude. Additional abilities required include:

  • Experience in demolition, moving large items and heavy lifting
  • Because disasters can strike at any time, must be willing to work a rotating On Call schedule after hours as required.
  • Desire to do physical work
  • Understanding and experience using hand and power tools
  • Curious nature, always want to know how things happen
  • Strong people, teamwork and communication skills
  • Attention to detail, ability to follow directions
  • Disasters can strike at any time so must be available to partake in a rotating On Call schedule after hours
  • A safety mindset
  • Valid driver’s licence and a clean criminal record (we do check)
  • Ability to communicate in English

Other stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory:

  • Experienced in construction, particularly demolition
  • WHMIS
  • First Aid

PRELIMINARY SCREENING QUESTIONS

  • Do you have a 3+ years’ experience as a Water Damage/Restoration technician with another restoration company?
  • Are you able to work a rotating On-Call schedule? This is additional to scheduled daytime hours.
  • Do you have a valid drivers’ license and a vehicle to get on-site in case of emergencies when it’s your turn to be On-Call?
  • Do you have experience with drying tools (air movers, negative air machines, pressurized drying systems, floor drying systems, dehumidifiers)?
  • Do you have a valid IICRC certificate?
  • Are you comfortable driving a fleet vehicle around the city and parking in residential streets?
  • Are you open to coaching others and being coached yourself? There are many ways to complete a task, you must be open to giving and receiving input.
  • Do you consider yourself to be a leader, organized and self motivated? This position requires a high degree of making logical decisions, dealing with home-owners, schedules and job duties. Describe how you could be an asset to On Side Restoration:
