Situated within a modern facility located in beautiful London, Ontario, TMI offers a comfortable work environment with a respectful and family-oriented culture.As an employee of Trudell Medical International, not only will you contribute to the development of products at the cutting edge of medical device technology, but you will also have the opportunity to perform challenging work alongside a first-rate group of dedicated professionals.We’re actively searching for our next team member for the position of:Manager, Mechanical EngineeringLead a group of mechanical engineers and technical professionals to design and develop new respiratory medical products and technologies.Responsibilities Include:People ManagementLead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and designersFoster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvementEnsure staff have clarity of expectations through the delivery of objectives and understanding key deliverablesCollaborate with Project Leaders to define scope, timelines, and deliverablesTrack project progress, manage risks, and ensure timely executionCoordinate with cross-functional teams including electrical, software, manufacturing, and marketingMaintain schedule and established time standard compliance for all staff, i.e. by organizing and directly supervising staff, administering leave, monitoring, responding to staff headcount requirements, etc.Treat employees are fairly and equitably, have a sense of self-esteem, and are encouraged to develop to their full potential, i.e. by administering workplace policies and programsSupport employee development, i.e. by evaluating performance, providing feedback, and supporting their growthManage employee issues to enable employees to have a high degree of focus on their jobs, i.e. by resolving employee relations issues, performance problems, and disciplinary issuesMonitor and assign resources to new projects through collaboration with Product Development Project LeadsHands‑on leadership by establishing a robust system of daily behaviours and expectations necessary for driving team successProduct DevelopmentCollaborate with the SEED team to transfer product ideas into Phase 1 of product developmentCollaborate with cross‑functional teams including hardware, QA, product management, and systems engineeringOversee the mechanical design and development of new products from concept to launchEnsure designs meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost targetsDrive design reviews, DFMEA, DFM/DFA, and validation testingIdentify and explore new ideas and technologies to further our understanding of aerosol deliveryDerisk new technologies through designed experiments and simulation, to achieve technical readiness for product adoptionTechnical ExpertiseProvide guidance on materials selection, mechanical systems, thermal management, and aerosol scienceStay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory standardsSupport patent development and intellectual property strategyCommunicate effectively with internal and external stakeholdersPresent technical concepts and project updates to product leadershipWork closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure design intent is maintainedRegulatoryAchieve alignment of design and development activities with TMI’s Quality Policy and proceduresEnsure that products are developed to meet all regulatory requirements, including design controlshealth & SafetyEnsure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.QUALIFICATIONSDegree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronic, Biomedical) or a related field of studyProfessional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation is an asset7-10 years of product development experience within medical devices, consumer products, or a related industry5+ years of people management experienceExperience managing complex product development projects with a proven track record of successfully launching new productsExperience working within a ISO 13485 regulated environment.Experience medical device, pharmaceutical or aerospace an assetExperience with design of plastics components for high‑volume injection moldingExpert level knowledge in mechanical design and solidworks modeling related to plastic mechanical systemsDemonstrated knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack‑up, and mold flow analysisStrong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead teams of engineers to achieve resultsSound understanding of the complete product development lifecycleStrong verbal and written communication skillsStage Gate Product Development process experienceAbility to articulate problems and identify viable solutionsWe are an equal opportunity employer and it is important to our Company that all its employees, including those with disabilities, find our workplace to be welcoming and supportive.
