The RDN is situated within the traditional territories of several First Nations, including Snuneymuxw, Snaw-Naw-As and Qualicum First Nations and recognizes their rich cultural heritage. The RDN is focused on building strong relationships with these Nations. The RDN is home to approximately 170,000 people and is growing at a rapid pace. Growth is due in part to a mild coastal climate, diverse ecosystems, and landscapes from the Salish Sea to rugged mountains, easy access to a range of outdoor recreation, and a high quality of life. About the Role: Reporting to the Manager, Capital Project Delivery, the Project Engineer is responsible for managing capital projects within the RDN. Projects include the planning, design, and construction of capital infrastructure projects, including wastewater treatment facilities, utilities, fire protection facilities, and others. This position will liaise with administrative and operational staff, other government agencies, architects, building contractors, consultants, private utility companies and the public. This is an incredible opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer to leverage their design experience and technical expertise to support a variety of capital projects throughout the organization. The successful candidate brings strong communication and relationship-building skills, demonstrates accountability and project ownership, and shows a consistent commitment to health and safety work practices. The preferred candidate will hold a Civil Engineering degree and will be registered as a Professional Engineer (PEng) with Engineers Geoscientists British Columbia with six (6) years experience in design, construction, and project management of water/wastewater or industrial projects. Experience in an operating facility and local government organization, combined with a certificate in project management, is considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's License is required. The salary for this position is $119,593 - $137,236 annually and is supplemented by a competitive total compensation plan.
