This is a bi-campus role with responsibilities on both our Saint John and Fredericton campuses.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Vice-President Administration and Finance, the Associate Vice President, Ancillary Services is a motivated and visionary leader with an entrepreneurial spirit who has a keen eye on bottom-line results. This role focuses on service delivery excellence, oversight, and development of ancillary services crucial to improving the user experience. This is an evolving position of responsibility which will initially have oversight of student residence, food services, conference services, and bookstore operations. Experience with parking, property management and real estate development are considered assets for this role. The Associate Vice President will be responsible to generate additional financial resources to support UNB's academic mission while ensuring an exceptional student experience. Flexible working hours may be required in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Revenue Generation:

  • Innovate and expand revenue streams from ancillary services in alignment with UNB's academic mission.
  • Formulate business strategies to enhance profitability and explore emerging and new market opportunities.

Operational Leadership:

  • Manage various ancillary services, ensuring operational excellence, focusing on efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Financial Management:

  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation, implementing fiscal stability and growth strategies.

Student Experience Enhancement:

  • Enhance campus life quality and service range, engaging with students to meet their needs and expectations.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work with academic departments, student organizations, and administrative units to align services with educational goals, maintaining relationships with external partners.

Facilities and Infrastructure Development:

  • Manage the development and maintenance of facilities, ensuring alignment with sustainability goals.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and policies, managing operational, financial, and strategic risks.

People Management:

  • Development and progressive development of a passionate and diverse team.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Master's degree in business administration, management, or a related field or equivalent.
  • Minimum ten years of senior management experience, preferably in post-secondary education or a related sector.
  • Proven experience in revenue generation and diverse business operations management.
  • Strong financial acumen with effective budget management and resource allocation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to unite diverse groups towards a common goal.
  • Outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Innovative and adaptable to changing markets and educational environments.
  • The ability to travel between campuses on short notice.

Additional Strengths:

  • High level proficiency in Office 365 is an asset.
  • Previous work experience in a post-secondary education setting is an asset.
  • A curious problem solver by nature, the ideal candidate will draw upon previous experiences to transform UNB's ancillary services, contributing significantly to the university's mission and enriching the student experience.
