Opportunity We are seeking a client‑focused Investment Counsellor to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate is a CFA Charterholder or a CIM/CFP holder with a proven track record in managing discretionary portfolios and nurturing long‑term relationships with high‑net‑worth clients. This role is integral to our firm’s success, requiring a blend of sophisticated investment acumen, rigorous compliance adherence, and outstanding interpersonal/emotional intelligence skills. You will be a key point of contact for a portfolio of our client families, responsible for understanding their unique financial objectives and delivering tailored investment strategies. MWG is in office three days per week with flexibility to work from home Monday and Friday. Key Responsibilities Client Relationship & Portfolio Management Develop relationships with prospective and existing clients with exceptional client service with a client first focus. Develop and implement Investment Policy Statements (IPS) to ensure alignment with client objectives, risk tolerance, and life circumstances. Construct and manage discretionary investment portfolios, utilizing a mix of our proprietary pooled funds and individual securities in segregated accounts. Conduct regular portfolio reviews with clients, clearly communicating investment strategy, performance, and market outlook. Provide comprehensive wealth management advice, coordinating with clients’ other professional advisors (accountants, lawyers) as needed. Private Client Business Development Aid in growing the private client business at Murray Wealth Group including new product and strategy development, distribution channels and markets. Develop best‑in‑class client services experience. Compliance & Operations Ensure all client‑related activities strictly adhere to OSC regulations, NI 31‑103, and our firm’s internal compliance policies and procedures. Maintain meticulous client documentation, including Know‑Your‑Client (KYC) information, suitability assessments, and meeting notes. Execute trades and manage portfolio administration efficiently through our custodial platform, NBIN. Liaise with our operations team to ensure seamless client onboarding, reporting, and account maintenance. Qualifications & Experience CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or CIM/CFP designation is preferred. Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a discretionary investment management role, preferably with a private wealth firm or family office. Must be registered as an Advising Representative (AR) with the OSC, or immediately eligible for registration. University degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, or a related field. Demonstrated experience managing relationships with high‑net‑worth clients ($1M+). In‑depth understanding of the Canadian securities regulatory landscape. Experience working with pooled funds and OM structures is a strong asset. Familiarity with NBIN and Fundserv platforms is highly desirable.
