Bylaw Enforcement Officer – Replacement Temporary, Full-Time Located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, West Vancouver is a vibrant community on the North Shore and home to parks, beaches, and to sports, recreation, and arts amenities. The West Vancouver Bylaw and Licensing Services Department is currently seeking a Bylaw Enforcement Officer to join our highly qualified team. Reporting to the Manager of Bylaw & Licensing Services, this is inspectional, regulatory, and investigative work related to the enforcement of municipal bylaws, including but not limited to Traffic & Parking, Animal Control, Parks, Solid Waste, Noise and Good Neighbour bylaws. The work involves extensive public relations contact, requiring action with tact and diplomacy. The preferred candidate will display considerable use of sound judgement and action in the interpretation, explanation, and compliance of District bylaws. The more difficult problems and policy matters are referred to a superior who reviews work performance for conformance to established policies and procedures and the effectiveness of enforcement operations. The preferred candidate will possess post‑secondary training in law enforcement, criminal justice or a related field; will have strong written and verbal communication skills, sound experience and training conducting investigations and will have experience with attending adjudication proceedings. Candidates with equivalent combinations of education, training and experience will be considered. Successful candidates will be required to provide an acceptable driver’s abstract, a police information check, and copies of relevant credentials.
