Accountability Objective In conjunction with the life enrichment manager, the life enrichment supervisor plans, organizes, and implements programs to enhance the physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual development of the residents. The role contributes to establishing new methods and policies to improve leisure lifestyle and promote positive and active retirement living. Background / Qualifications Diploma or degree from a recognized post‑secondary institution in Recreation, Physical Education, Gerontology, or a closely related field. Experience facilitating a variety of programs in a seniors’ environment is essential. Proficient computer skills (e.g., Word and Excel). Valid provincial driver’s license or willingness to obtain one for company vehicle use. Smart Serve certification required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and written and verbal fluency in English. Key Responsibilities Actively participates in, and contributes to, the Verve Quality Improvement (VQI) program. Takes initiative to grow current programs and develop new ones. Maintains awareness of resident needs and available opportunities. Promotes resident awareness and participation in leisure programs. Maintains department records including attendance, community contact information, and program evaluations. Communicates effectively with residents, families, and staff while respecting confidentiality. Develops and upgrades knowledge and skills in leisure programming. Attends in‑service programs. Specific Duties Planning Sets up activity area for each program. Prepares supplies for activities (e.g., crossword puzzles, exercise programs, community events). Updates the monthly birthday list and prepares birthday cards. Assists in planning and production of the monthly calendar. Generates ideas for new activities. Distributes event advertising in the community. Activation Sets up and takes down program supplies and room requirements. Ensures adequate supplies for staff‑led and independent activities. Implements activity programs. Invites residents to programs via telephone, during other programs, visits, or invitations. Ensures all programs start on time and that a backup plan is always available. Assesses and evaluates programs with the life enrichment manager through audits and evaluations. Accompanies residents on weekly outings. Decorates activity area for holidays and special events when needed. Records attendance at each activity and event. Delivers calendar and newsletter when necessary. Administrative Types monthly recreational meeting minutes. Ensures all posters are correct and up‑to‑date, including daily events, special events, and notices. Manages sign‑up sheets for outings, staff involvement and CQI. Assists in preparing the monthly newsletter. Completes other printing jobs. Complies with all relevant corporate policies and procedures. Completes required annual mandatory training/education. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and W.H.M.I.S., including reporting hazards, incidents, and participating in fire drills.
