Purpose

  • Lead, manage and/or execute the Continuous Change Cycle across IB Commercial Banking Credit Risk.
  • Responsible for the success of a large-scale transformation program across IB Commercial Banking GRM, to strengthen risk management, governance, and controls, enhance operational efficiency, and support Global Risk Management's (GRM) strategic priorities.
  • Implement technological initiatives within IB Commercial Banking in order to maximize the efficiency of the business unit.
  • Supports the Head, IB Commercial Banking Credit Risk, in leading the strategy design, coordination, and implementation of the Modernization plan and supporting subsequent cross-functional initiatives.
  • Ensures that all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Maintain Policy, Systems, and Processes up to date and in line with industry's best practices and technological advancements and Regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the design, integration, and execution of the New Operating Model for IB Commercial Banking Risk, and the Global GRM Transformation Journey.
  • Act as a trusted partner to the GRM Transformation Program and Canadian/IB Commercial Banking Heads offices to help define and review priorities.
  • Execute outcomes from the external independent review (to strengthen 2nd line oversight), and the GRM Transformation Program.
  • Partner with appropriate stakeholders to ensure the maintenance of governance items.
  • Facilitate coordination between IB Commercial Banking Risk stakeholders to bridge silos and enable alignment across teams throughout all stages of development and execution.
  • Accountable for project planning and execution activities for each Transformation Initiative for IB Commercial Banking.
  • Provide sign off on business requirements and prepare submission of validation packages for QA and Internal Audit.
  • Communicate project plans and status for each Transformation Initiative for Credit Portfolio Management.
  • Identify improvement opportunities within IB Commercial Banking Risk and design and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Enable technology to support the modernization of commercial credit risk management.
  • Ensure timely engagement with relevant groups as determined by implications of the change being introduced by transformation initiatives.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 5-10 years of banking and industry experience at a management level, ideally within risk management functions.
  • Demonstrable success in coordinating Business Banking projects and managing functionally diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to translate vision and strategic priorities into operational and financial realities.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience using data to drive decision-making and process improvements.
  • Ability to promote innovative ideas and accept the risks that are required to lead change.
  • Strategic influencing and negotiating skills to effectively persuade and influence peers and senior management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Close partnership with multiple stakeholders across GRM.
  • Support governance and delivery of strategic programs across IB Commercial Banking Risk.
  • Understanding of the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture.
