CSSI is a dynamic research centre of innovation and expertise dedicated to breaking down barriers in the world of technology, particularly in the areas of automation & digitization, sensors and system integration, AI, and emerging technologies. We may be automating a process towards efficiency and precision, improving an existing technology in an innovative way, integrating multiple technologies for custom application, or designing and building something novel. Key Responsibilities The position is responsible for design and implementation of computer vision, user interfacing (UI), real‑time analytics, and software platform development for industry funded applied research projects. Teamwork with experts in innovative and novel technological solutions on industry challenges. Skills & Abilities Strong background in image processing techniques. Experience with AI, machine learning and deep learning algorithms, particularly in computer vision applications. Knowledge of popular deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch. Familiarity with image classification, object detection, and segmentation methods. Ability to work with large datasets and optimize algorithms for performance. Experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL). Practical experience designing backend services and Application Programming Interface (API). Web and desktop based graphical user interface design. Understanding of Linux and deployment to Linux systems (Shell scripts). Cloud based applications development and cloud computing. Experience working in one or more of the following backend languages: Java, C#, JavaScript (NodeJS), Golang. Data analytics and programming skills (e.g., MATLAB, C++, Python). Microcontroller interfacing with Windows and/or Raspberry Pi OS. Microcontroller based embedded system design, firmware development and implementation. Higher degrees and/or several years of relevant experience. Working knowledge or familiarity with the following will be an asset: Robot Operating System (ROS). Finite Element Analysis simulation. Opto-electro-mechanical Systems. Power electronics and electrical machines. Familiarity with AWS and MS Azure platforms. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline. Equivalencies may be considered. Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS). Remuneration Classification – Research Officer II Bi‑weekly salary of $3,195.58 plus a comprehensive benefits package, totaling a monthly earnings of $2,384.52.
