CompensationCompensation: $30 – $34/ hour (full-time / permanent). On-call premium and overtime paid for rotating coverage.Carpenter (Multi-Skilled Tradesperson)Carpenters at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state Multi-Skilled Tradespeople use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a Multi-Skilled Tradesperson.The multi-talented Carpenter is skilled in the following ways:Refined skills with various in-home renovation repairs/restoration vs new buildRough and trim and finishInstallation, doors, trim, moldings, and baseboardsCabinetryRepairs to wooden structures of all sortsDrywall repairs: boarding and muddingBrush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim)Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturingInsulation and vapour barrier installationBeing awesome, in generalWhat you bringThe Multi-Skilled Tradesperson brings a host of abilities to their work, not the least being a ‘get it done’ attitude. Additional abilities required include:5+ years experience interior carpentry repairsLeadership to guide helpers and train less experienced workersAbility to work well alone or in a teamExperience working in construction environmentsTools and the skills to use themStrong people and communication skillsAttention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you doInterest in cross training and willingness to help out all team members regardless if the job is related to carpentry dutiesAbility to work later than scheduled when needed: including travelling out of townA safety mindsetValid drivers licenseAbility to pass a criminal record checkAbility to communicate in EnglishOther stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory:JM Red Seal Carpentry ticketSkilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker)IICRC certification (restoration focus)WHMISFirst AidOf NoteDisasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.
