Job Title: Funeral Director Assistant Employer: Arbor Memorial Inc. Location: Scott Funeral Home – Woodbridge Chapel, Woodbridge, Ontario Job Type: Part Time, Permanent Job Description: About This Role Provide outstanding customer service to families by supporting Funeral Directors in all aspects of funeral services, including greeting and assisting families upon arrival, driving funeral vehicles when required, and assisting with preparation work. The role requires handling multiple demands simultaneously, prioritizing tasks, and rotating shifts including night shifts and statutory holidays. Key Qualifications and Demonstrated Abilities Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Self‑motivated with the ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team. Excellent attention to detail and consistently high level of accuracy. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, verbal, written, and presentation. Strong customer service skills with ability to partner at all levels of the organization. Ability to lift and carry 75 lbs. Exemplifies Arbor’s values of compassion, integrity, trust, teamwork, and excellence. Demonstrates active community involvement and establishes a positive profile of the Funeral Home within the community. A valid driver’s license and clean driving abstract are mandatory. Responsibilities Greets and assists families upon arrival at the funeral home. Arranges transfer of decedent to the funeral home or crematorium as required. Assists with basic preparation work such as removals. Assists with preparation of various rooms, visitations, rituals, funeral services, burials, and any other related tasks. Drives funeral vehicles when required by the funeral home. Performs general building upkeep and ensures proper maintenance of funeral service vehicles, including washing, interior care, cleaning, polishing, and scheduling maintenance plans. Completes other duties or special projects as required. Hours of work will be based on the needs of the business. Rotating shifts, including night shifts and statutory holidays, are required.
