In accordance with the established mission, vision and values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, the person promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors, and staff. Reporting to the Program Lead or Designate and working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing nursing care to an assigned group of patients/residents according to established policies and procedures and the Standards of Practice for the Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia. The LPN functions as an independent practitioner, while recognizing situations such as increased patient acuity or care that falls outside the scope of an LPN as appropriate for accessing the RN/RPN for collaborative support and/or clinical intervention. The LPN assists patients/residents in meeting their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Northern Health (NH) and established protocols. Participates in developing care plans, conducting assessments, implementing, and evaluating interventions, documenting information, and acting as an advocate for patients/residents. Participates in a variety of meetings including care conferences and assists with orientation of new staff and students as required. Responds and reports incidents according to established procedures and performs clerical duties as needed. Shift Rotation / Hours of Work Days, Nights, 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 (rotating) About Fort St. John Hospital and Health Centre Fort St. John Hospital and Health Centre has 44 acute care beds and 124 residential beds and is equipped to handle 22,000 ER visits per year. Endoscopy suite, 2 state‑of‑the‑art operating rooms, plus a procedure roomAmbulatory clinics including Cancer and HemodialysisMedical and surgical inpatient rooms (40 beds)3 intensive care unitsMinor surgeries7 single maternity rooms for labour, delivery, and post‑partum. Fort St. John also has the Health Unit and Primary Care Clinic which serve the community. Fort St. John Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City,” reflecting the large resource base of oil, natural gas, forestry and agriculture. Overlooking the Peace River, it is located above the Peace River Valley and serves as the capital of the Peace River district. The population is over 21,400 but it services an area of approximately 70,000. The community is the hub of the Northeast with a cultural centre and library, theatre, and art space. There are seven elementary schools, two middle schools, and one secondary school. There is also a Northern Lights College campus.
