Operations Supervisor – TTO at Gardewine Summary The Operations Supervisor is a hands‑on position that assists the terminal manager with day‑to‑day terminal operations. Responsibilities include overseeing dispatch, dock operations, and city P&D operations, ensuring business operations are efficient, effective, and meet customer standards. The role requires varying shifts to ensure processes are followed and maintained. Duties and Responsibilities Assist in leading operations to the fullest capacity to meet customer needs Provide positive customer service to all internal and external customers Supervise, coach, teach, and mentor employees in all areas of operations including safety, efficiency, loading/unloading, claim management, yard and equipment management Ensure staff levels are acceptable for optimal productivity and performance, covering dispatch and foreman duties as needed Monitor freight movement to maximize load factors and service levels, minimize claims Communicate regularly with Terminal Manager on opportunities and risks to the business Work with all employees to ensure smooth operations under all conditions Participate and perform in other dock and dispatch duties as required Perform all other duties as assigned and required Track, monitor and report on all key KPIs including productivity, utilization and service levels Minimize severity and frequency of accidents of contractors, drivers and dock personnel through risk identification Plan work schedules to ensure adequate staffing requirements Develop and execute training plans for dock lead hand employees Manage inventory of tools and supplies to reduce risk, loss and damage Practice safe work procedures and ensure the team does the same Assist as needed in all areas that affect operations goals and objectives, thereby supporting company objectives Supervisory Responsibilities Lead and manage the terminal team Qualifications Ideally 2–5 years of operational experience Ideally 2–5 years of experience with CLI Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills Flexible and agile to respond to business needs Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks Can work under pressure and manage critical and unplanned requirements Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with a diverse workforce, vendors, contractors, and suppliers Competent and hands‑on approach to get the job done Experience using Microsoft Office and logistics software Working knowledge of WHMIS and the Health & Safety Act Physical Requirements Requires bending, stooping, standing, walking, turning, pivoting for long periods Operate dock power equipment regularly Lift and move up to 50 lbs; adjust body position to maneuver Good balance and coordination to assess weights and judge distances and heights Work in varying temperatures depending on season Must wear PPE at all times As a member of the management team, you are expected to meet business needs, including working irregular hours and schedules from time to time.
