Interim Spokesperson & Public Relations Consultant (Bilingual) Immediate Interim Opportunity Reports To: Head of Communications & Public Affairs Duration: 12-months (part-time) Location: Montreal (Remote) Our client is a consumer-focused business and Canadian success story that is in urgent need of a fluently bilingual Interim Spokesperson with expertise in both media relations and PR. The interim hire will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive PR strategy for the Quebec marketplace with messaging that truly resonates with Quebec’s diverse audiences. This leadership role will focus on strengthening the existing brand in the province as the business prepares to substantially expand its local services. It will also involve close collaboration with the leadership team and the company’s internal resources as well as Quebec-based agency relationships. Key Accountabilities: Public & Media Relations Drive complementary PR initiatives to enhance reputation in Quebec, including cultivating strong relationships with local media outlets and other specialized channels to create brand visibility. Propose original communications strategies for the local market, as well as adopt national approaches, where appropriate. Draft materials, including news releases, key messages and speaking notes. Act as a media spokesperson in Quebec. Attend events on the company’s behalf. Oversee initiatives that foster a presence in the community, including relevant stakeholder partnerships, ensuring alignment with values. Social Media Offer counsel to the core Marketing and Communications teams in working with a Quebec-based social media agency to develop localized content for social platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok). Support a social media strategy that boosts brand presence in Quebec, amplifies key messages and engages Quebec’s online community, including influencers. Ensure content is relevant, engaging, and resonates culturally with Quebec’s diverse audiences, while remaining fully on-brand. Align social media strategy with organization’s overall social media plan, which speaks to a North American audience that is primarily English. Lead planning for media events in Quebec. Provide recommendations for how to effectively convey brand messaging through local events. Collaborate with partners for key announcements requiring the company’s input and representation. Organize logistics, including suppliers and contracts, as required. Strategic Counsel Provide counsel to the Senior Leadership Team in communicating with Quebec audiences. Monitor the local marketplace for insights that may shape the Quebec communications strategy. Competencies and Requirements Significant experience as a trained media spokesperson required. A minimum of 10 years of communications experience, with at least five years in senior roles focused on public relations, media relations, social media and brand strategy preferably in hospitality, travel or airline industries. Deep knowledge of the Quebec market, including consumer behaviors, media dynamics, and cultural intricacies. Fluency in French and English is required; Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages, with the ability to craft tailored messaging for diverse audience segments. Strong ability to think both strategically and tactically, developing long‑term plans while adapting to shifting market conditions. Proven event management and organizational skills, liaising with suppliers, and ability to multi‑task and prioritize. A balance of creative vision and analytical rigor, with experience in leveraging data to drive decision‑making and improve marketing effectiveness. A strong network within Quebec’s media and influencer landscape is advantageous. Ability to work directly with senior executives on sensitive and urgent projects.
