Position Overview Reporting to the Registration Services Coordinator, the Registration Clerk is responsible for the accurate and concise collection of information during the registration process adhering to provincial client registry best practices. They ensure exceptional customer service and professionalism, provide effective communication and reception services, maintain confidentiality, and support Health Information Services objectives, policies, and procedures. The incumbent employs initiative and independent judgment to prioritize work and handle unusual matters, all while aligning with Southern Health‑Santé Sud’s mission, vision, and values. Experience Recent experience in a patient reception/care area, specifically in registration of patients within an Admission/Discharge/Transfer (ADT) system preferred. Recent clerical and customer service experience. Education Grade 12 education or equivalent. Completion of a recognized Medical Office Assistant Program. Completion of a recognized Medical Terminology course. Other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered. Certification/Licensing/Registration Not applicable. Qualifications and Skills Knowledge of the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) and other healthcare-related legislation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and email/Outlook. Accurate keyboarding/typing skills of 40 wpm. Demonstrated knowledge of electronic health records. High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment. Approachable and welcoming demeanor. Strong written and oral communication skills. Organizational, decision-making, and problem‑solving skills. Independent judgment and decision making. Respect and promotion of a culturally diverse population. Prioritization in a changing environment. Ability to build and maintain professional working relationships. Teamwork and independent work ability. Proficiency in both official languages is essential for bilingual positions. Respect for confidentiality across paper, electronic, and other formats. Good work and attendance record. Valid Class 5 driver’s licence, an all‑purpose insured vehicle, and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00. Physical Requirements Health and physical ability to perform routine filing (lifting, stretching, bending, walking while carrying multiple files). May be required to work in seclusion. No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions. May work occasionally evenings and weekends as necessary. Travel to other regional facilities as required. Term Details This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
