Responsibilities include strategic capital initiatives, budget management, project management, design, permitting, construction, procurement, and subject‑matter expertise in landscape resilience, climate mitigation, and sustainability. Eligibility Requirements Bachelor’s or master’s degree in landscape architecture or equivalent OALA‑approved education Full Membership with Seal in the OALA, or eligibility to obtain Full Membership within six months of hiring Valid “G” License in good standing Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role Experience in design and construction of parks, facilities, or green infrastructure Progressive responsibility and professional experience in municipal and conservation authority projects Extensive experience with design and permitting for complex park development capital projects Experience working with external stakeholders and government agencies in multidisciplinary settings Experience in procuring and managing consulting services Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem‑solving skills Proficiency in CAD, GIS, asset management, and project management software (AutoCAD, ArcGIS, CityWide, MS Excel, Project) Knowledge of construction law, procurement, contract management, risk assessment, and dispute resolution Advanced computer skills and graphic design proficiency (Adobe Creative Suite) Knowledge of the Conservation Authorities Act, Planning Act, Greenbelt Act, Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act, Oak Ridges Moraine Act, and related legislation Certification in Project Management, Construction Administration, Contract Law or Asset Management is an asset Knowledge of Green Building Standards and related certifications is an asset Summary of Major Tasks Capital Project Planning and Management Plan and implement major asset maintenance and infrastructure projects (trails, boardwalks, bridges, park amenities, buildings, roads, land improvements) Prepare and manage project budgets and tracking tools Lead funding and grant applications, including community, provincial and federal grants Supervise staff and coordinate stakeholder engagement and technical steering committees Analyze projects, conduct research, develop innovative solutions, and recommend performance targets Integrate corporate social responsibility and climate change strategy into capital projects Support fundraising campaigns and coordinate with CVC Foundation for capital project funding Landscape Design and Professional Practice Manage consultant services and design vendors; deliver design and engineering stages from concept to construction documents Create construction drawings, specifications, and permit applications under the Planning Act and Building Permit processes Coordinate contractor and subcontractor work, including design review and payment certification Manage permitting, authorizations, and approvals from municipal and external agencies Produce design renderings, visuals, and presentations for communication and fundraising Contract Procurement and Management Develop procurement processes, issue RFPs, manage bids, and oversee contract awards and vendor relations Maintain cost estimates and budgets in line with contract award values Coordinate contract administration and risk mitigation with internal and external stakeholders Construction Administration Oversee construction contracts, manage schedules and budgets, and ensure compliance with construction law and the Construction Act Facilitate site meetings, issue change orders, and coordinate progress payments Prepare close‑out documentation, warranties, and as-built drawings Integrate projects into CVC asset management system and planning cycles Technical Guidance and Consultation Develop and manage CVC technical standards for landscape design and drawing specifications Provide technical input to policy development, strategies and plans Present to CVC Board, Municipal Councils, and external committees as required Support conservation initiatives and respond to public inquiries regarding capital projects How to Apply Please submit a resume and cover letter in a Word or PDF file, one document preferred, via the ‘Apply’ button on the job posting or on our jobs page at: https://cvc.ca/jobs/.
