This role requires a strong foundation in AML principles, a basic understanding of the mortgage industry (preferably commercial mortgages), and the ability to analyze and resolve issues efficiently. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and strong time management capabilities.How you will contribute:Conduct AML reviews and investigations related to commercial mortgage transactions.Analyze data and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.Perform screening of potential matches against Canadian and international sanctions lists and evaluate any positive hits in accordance with AML policies and procedures.Prepare clear and concise reports and escalate findings as necessary.Collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues and implement process improvements.Support audits, regulatory inquiries, and internal compliance initiatives.Maintain accurate records and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.Required Skills and Attributes:Basic understanding of the mortgage industry, with preference for commercial mortgages.Foundational knowledge of AML principles; prior AML experience is an asset.Strong analytical thinking and resourcefulness.Ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and resolve problems efficiently.Clear and concise verbal and written communication.Active listening and ability to convey ideas effectively to diverse stakeholders.Ability to collaborate effectively and maintain a respectful, cooperative attitude.Strong prioritization skills and ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field (or equivalent experience)Genuine interest in AML required; previous AML experience is an assetAble to perform effectively in a fast‑paced, structured team environment while also working independently when requiredFamiliarity with commercial mortgage products and processes is an assetProficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Working Environment and Physical Demands Analysis:Periods of high volume with tight timelinesLong periods of stationary position/sittingProlonged periods of repetitive movement (i.e. using a keyboard and mouse)Long periods of time in viewing a computer screenMulti-tasking may include speaking to customers on a telephone call while looking up information on a computer programCompetitive CompensationComprehensive benefits program (i.e., Health Spending Account, Maternity and Parental Leave Top Up)Extensive training programs to set our employees up for successModern office environment conducive to collaborationSupportive teamwork cultureOpportunities to give back to the communities and work through events focused on a variety of charitiesOngoing social events throughout the yearThe team you’ll join:Founded in 1988, First National is one of Canada’s largest non-bank lenders.
