Admitting/Switchboard Clerk (Emergency) – Vancouver Coastal Health, Sechelt, BC Salary: CAD $27.56 per hour. Responsibilities Perform clerical work related to patient admissions and switchboard operation. Receive and interview patients, and refer them to the emergency nurse for immediate assessment based on established guidelines. Complete and process admitting records, contact personnel for relevant information, and enter data into a computerized system. Operate the switchboard, locate personnel via pagers, answer service and public address calls, and respond to emergencies according to established procedures. Education & Experience Grade 12 and one year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge & Abilities Ability to type at 45 words per minute. Knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to operate related equipment. Ability to organize work. The hours of work—including days off and work area—may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the Collective Agreement. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check and provide vaccination or infection history as part of the onboarding process.
