About The RoleUnder the direct supervision of the Manager of the Program, the incumbent:Administers internal assessment committees of well-defined programs of assistance for individual artists, groups, and arts organizations, according to established policies and procedures.Assesses the eligibility of applicants and projects and follows up as needed.Chairs and participates in working groups and committees.Provides assessments in internal committees and coordinates logistics for internal assessment committees.Provides general information and support to applicants and the public regarding eligibility and information about the program.Prepares eligibility and result letters for review and approval by the Program Officer or Manager.Supports Program Officers in the peer assessment process by taking notes and preparing draft reports.Reviews project expenses, financial data, final reports, and financial statements in the CADAC (Canadian Arts Data) system.Contributes to the development of policies and the improvement of procedures.Performs general administrative duties.Performs other related duties. EducationAn undergraduate degree in arts practice or in arts administration, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience related to the responsibilities of the position. ExperienceThree (3) years of experience directly related to the principal responsibilities of the position.Experience analyzing financial and statistical data.Experience in various artistic disciplines would be an asset. KnowledgeAn understanding of the interrelationships and complexities of the artistic milieu, including the relevant organizations and institutions.Strong knowledge of one or more artistic disciplines.General knowledge of the current status of the arts in Canada and of trends and new developments in the arts, including more recent forms such as digital arts.General knowledge of culturally diverse practices in Canada, such as Non-Western forms, Indigenous arts practices, and Deaf and disability arts.Good understanding of financial statements and statistical data. Skills & CompetenciesAbility to anticipate problems and to identify and respond to issues.Ability to synthesize information and write reports.Ability to chair and manage committees.Ability to facilitate consensus and resolve conflicts.Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork, problem-solving, analytical, time and priority management, organizational and leadership skills. Bilingual RequirementsThis position requires the use of both official languages. The requirements in the second official language are:an intermediate level in reading comprehension (B).an intermediate level in writing (B).an intermediate level in oral (B).The Council may consider Indigenous applicants who do not meet the second official language requirements provided they commit to participating in language training offered by the Council to reach the language proficiency levels of the position.Proficiency in an Indigenous language may be considered an asset.
