Health Care Aide 0.4 - Days - Permanent Shared Health-Soins Communs – Winnipeg, Manitoba Posting Posting End Date: January 6, 2026 City: Winnipeg Site: Golden Links Lodge Personal Care Home Work Location: 2280 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg, MB R2N 3Z6 Department: Nursing Union: CUPE FTE: 0.4 Summary of Function Under the direction of the Director of Care or designate, the Health Care Aide performs duties as assigned within Golden Links Lodge Nursing Department. Works under the direction and supervision of Unit Nurse or designate performing assigned duties related to the care of Residents or other duties when requested. Ensures all safety and other requirements are maintained, including Manitoba Health Standards. Qualifications Recognized Health Care Aide Certificate required or completed two years of accepted registered nursing education program. One year previous experience as a Health Care Aide preferred. Experience in personal care home setting preferred. Able to carry out duties in a professional manner, working under minimum or no supervision, and in compliance with confidentiality of GLL and its Residents. Physical and mental health to meet the requirements of the position. Effective interpersonal skills. Sincere interest in working with the elderly, and being part of interdisciplinary team to meet the needs of Residents. Ability to adapt to changing needs of the Residents. Good organizational skills with ability to adapt to changing needs and requirements of the Residents. Able to safely operate required equipment. All hires require a Criminal Record and Adult Abuse Registry Check. Responsibilities Assist Residents with all activities of daily living based on the Resident’s individual Care Plan. Maintain and promote hygiene and skin integrity by providing bathing, facial shaving, dental and hair hygiene, dressing, changing bed linens, and monitoring skin. Promote exercise and rest by transferring, positioning, or ambulating Residents according to GLL Safe Resident Handling and Movement policy, and following established walking program and passive exercises. Maintain and promote nutrition by assisting Residents with meals, distributing meals, encouraging social conversation, and serving water and beverages. Maintain and promote elimination by toileting Residents, collecting specimens, reporting problems, recording intake/output, and utilizing designated incontinence care products. Maintain and promote safety by ensuring call bell accessibility, responding promptly, identifying fall risk, reporting hazards, using safe handling techniques, and complying with WHMIS/MSDS standards. Assist the nurse with weighing Residents, providing emotional support, handling end-of-life care, applying cold packs, assisting with recreation, admissions, discharges, and transfers. Participate in infection control and preventative maintenance programs by cleaning equipment and laundering. Transport Residents as required to meals, recreation, hairdresser, church services, etc. Participate in the education of students, new staff or agency personnel as requested. Document care delivery on appropriate records or as directed by the nurse. Prioritize care based on Residents’ needs, organize daily workload, report changes in resident health status to the unit nurse, and support the interdisciplinary team care plan development and review. Perform assigned clerical duties, answer telephones, and maintain privacy and confidentiality. Required Checks Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. Additional Information This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check, Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
