People like you Position Overview We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technician in a permanent full‑time position to join our team of skilled professionals based at our Calgary AB Plant. This state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing plant produces premium roofing shingles in a high‑speed, continuous, asphalt shingle manufacturing process environment. Reporting to the Quality Control Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of a quality plan to drive continuous improvement in plant performance and assure that finished product complies with company, industry, and government standards. Responsibilities Perform tests in the Laboratory on key parameters associated with the quality assurance of finished products. Monitor the quality of finished products in real time, resolve issues with the production team, and escalates quality issues on a timely basis. Monitor quality impact of new production processes, methods, or equipment. Implement ongoing quality improvement processes and procedures working with interdepartmental teams and production employees. Support the development and implementation of a quality plan to drive continuous improvement in plant performance. Measure quality assurance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement, track progress on goals, and hold performance accountable. Identify, troubleshoot, and drive resolution of production quality deficiencies and problems. Escalate quality assurance issues to the Quality team and Plant management on a timely basis. Ensure that the Lab equipment is calibrated and in good condition, and communicate material and spare requirements in advance. Collate and analyze performance data and charts against defined parameters. Work with shipping to ensure that outgoing products are sorted, segregated, isolated, and downgraded as per disposition from the quality team. Be able to lift 25 lbs. The person may be required to move a bundle of shingles with 60 lbs on a trolley, usually done with assistance. Education Diploma or Degree in a Science related field. Qualifications Experience in an industrial process manufacturing environment in a quality assurance role with hands‑on experience with quality management systems preferred. Proficient with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Excellent communication (written, verbal, and presentation) and interpersonal skills. Experience working in a Laboratory environment and calibrating troubleshooting instruments will be an asset. Personal Qualities Commitment to HSE. Ability to prioritize tasks.
