Congregation Shaarey Zedek is seeking a Life Cycle and Funeral Coordinator for a 6‑month renewable term position from January 15 to May 31, 2026. As a centre for Conservative Judaism, Congregation Shaarey Zedek welcomes the community to experience spiritual growth, continuing education, and the enrichment of life cycle events. The Life Cycle and Funeral Coordinator will provide support to families in future planning and at‑need to manage the coordination of plot purchases, funeral and unveiling coordination. The successful candidate will interface with the Chesed Shel Emes (Jewish burial society), various service providers and the synagogue clergy and appropriate maintenance and catering staff to facilitate the dignified burial and commemoration of congregants. The candidate should be comfortable navigating Office Suite and managing the contract of sales between the families and the synagogue. The candidate will also manage the location and sale of memorial plaques and other commemorative items including park benches in the cemetery and leaves on the Tree of Life at the synagogue. As Life Cycle Coordinator, the candidate will support the Life Cycle Director in booking meals, speakers, life cycle events, and programs into the synagogue calendar coordinating with the synagogue and community calendar as well as the clergy’s schedules. The candidate will assist with the transfer of hard copy files into a new software system. The candidate will provide office support as needed, answering the phone, processing tribute cards, and sending out donation cards. Candidates should be able to read Hebrew and understand Jewish Ritual prayer and practice including end of life and mourning. Given the sensitive nature of this role, the incumbent should have a sense of compassion, experience dealing with the public and the service industry.
