Job Title Vehicle Maintenance Technician Level 3 Job Status Year Round Full Time Compensation and Benefits Compensation: Proposed hiring rate of $36.50 to $41.60+, adjusted based on experience. Job Summary The Tech III performs preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), troubleshooting, failure analysis, and repairs on Powdr Copper Mountain’s fleet, including trucks, vans, buses, and snowcats. Provides maximum safe vehicle availability. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform PMI’s and repairs in accordance with Powdr Copper Mountain’s Vehicle Maintenance guidelines on fleet vehicles, including trucks, vans, transportation equipment, and snowcats. Troubleshoot, analyze, repair, design, modify, and complete failure analyses on fleet vehicles. Read and interpret hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic system schematics. Work independently on troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems, hydrostatic drive systems, hydraulic systems, and light truck and van computer systems such as emissions, airbags, and anti‑lock brakes. Effectively communicate to train co‑workers in all maintenance areas of operation. Operate all fleet vehicles to evaluate maintenance results. Accurately record daily activities on work orders, indirect labor logs, and parts requisitions for department administration. Consult manuals, trade publications, trade associations, vendors, fellow employees, outside schools, and training programs to stay updated on new maintenance technologies. Maintain a clean work area to ensure a safe environment. Perform other duties as assigned. Assist in training personnel in vehicle check‑out procedures, equipment use, and safety. Perform minor welding/fabrication projects using machine shop tools. Assist in day‑to‑day shop operations as required. Contacts Consistent contact with fellow Vehicle Maintenance employees; occasional contact with operating department employees and outside vendors. Periodically responsible for Vehicle Maintenance personnel, providing leadership for junior staff in the absence of the Foreman or Manager. Can work any hours of the day, any days of the week. Basic Requirements High School Education or equivalent. Ability to work outside in all weather conditions. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Accurate verbal and written English communication skills. Can lift 50 pounds. Valid US Driver’s License and Commercial Driver’s License. Bottom rollaway box and tools to perform major PMI’s and repairs. At least 21 years old. May require use of mountain radio/walkie‑talkies. Preferred Experience and Special Skills Experience operating all types of fleet equipment. Five to ten years in Vehicle Maintenance or three to six years with a certificate of completion in an Automotive Diesel Technology school (minimum 1000 clock hours). Knowledge in hydraulics, electrical, diesel engine systems, computerized engine control systems, drive train, chassis, body repair, basic welding, fuel systems, air systems, and schematic drawings.
