Join us today and make a difference Job Description The Laboratory Technician will be immediately supervised by the Manager of the Liquid Biopsy Unit (LBU) and will perform the daily technical operations of the unit, supporting all collaborative research projects. Primary responsibilities involve liquid biopsy assay development, execution, analysis and generation of reports/presentations of results. Position Summary Department / Research Program: Cancer Research Program (CRP). The LBU is a collaborative, translational research unit aimed at accelerating the discovery, validation, and implementation of liquid biopsy cancer biomarkers into clinical workflows. General Duties Lead execution of research projects and experiments according to established methodology in fields such as molecular biology, biochemistry and chemistry. Prepare and set up materials and equipment; perform assays, analyses and tests such as nucleic acid extraction, droplet digital PCR, library preparation and enrichment for NGS, nucleic acid quality control, and other molecular biology techniques. Troubleshoot technical problems, propose and implement solutions. Record results, perform calculations and compile data; maintain an organized record of experimentation and analysis. Generate reports and presentations of results. Write SOPs and review written communications related to the unit. Demonstrate the operation of apparatus or techniques. Use a variety of equipment and arrange for servicing when required. Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the work area. Maintain inventory and establish new inventories when required. Keep abreast of new developments in the liquid biopsy field to update skills, knowledge and develop new assays. Accomplish any other related tasks as required by the immediate supervisor. Qualifications Master’s Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Experimental Medicine or related field. 1–2 years of work experience in molecular biology or related laboratory setting. Expertise in liquid biopsy‑related methods and analyses (e.g., ctDNA/RNA quantification, library preparation for NGS) is an asset. Excellent French and English, spoken and written. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision. Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Work Details Status: Temporary, full time (35‑hour workweek) — Pay Scale: $41,550.60 – $62,353.20 /year (commensurate with education and experience) — Work Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm — Work Site: Glen Site, 1001 boul.
