Location: Alexandria, Ontario. Type: Part-time. Pay Rate: $20.45. Shift: various.Overview: Allied Universal, a global leader in security services, seeks a Security Professional to oversee security operations in the Alexandria, Ontario area. This position requires a dedicated security professional with a strong commitment to safety, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to maintain calm, effective responses in high-pressure situations. We are looking for reliable, flexible individuals ready to take on the responsibility of ensuring the security of our client site.Mandatory Required Vaccines: Must sign an attestation for the following vaccinations:Mantoux test (tuberculosis)Measles/Rougeole (proof of vaccination or serology)Measles/Oreillons (proof of vaccination or serology)German Measles or Rubella (proof of vaccination or serology)Chicken Pox Varicelle (proof of vaccination or serology)Covid vaccinations - 1 shot is mandatoryHighly recommended (but not required): Hepatitis B, Flu VaccinationPlease note that all applicants must reside in Alexandria or Cornwall, Ontario to meet location requirements for this roleResponsibilitiesInteract with staff and the public in a confident, professional manner and de-escalate volatile situations. Liaise with people in waiting areas during high-volume/extended wait times to manage expectations and maintain a de-escalated environment.Regularly patrol interior and exterior buildings and property areas, including parking areas. Electronically record check-in points as required by site.Maintain a professional visible presence in exterior areas, waiting rooms, access points, shift changes, and desired locations.Control removal of assets and equipment from the building. Manage building entry and egress access control as required.Monitor surveillance systems, alarms, intrusion detection systems, and fire detection systems.Notify the Security Manager or designated staff of safety hazards, maintenance problems, unusual events, and/or suspicious activity.Document duties performed on shift and incident involvement; create necessary notes and reports.Enforce hospital policies related to smoking/vaping on hospital property, including parking lot areas.Understand Purchaser policies and procedures as they relate to security. Perform security escorts as required.Support staff, police, fire, and EMS as needed. Respond to calls for locking/unlocking doors and elevators; arrange access to controlled areas (e.g., Morgue, conference rooms, Family Care Centre, stores/supplies).Lock/unlock elevators and place in Fire mode for the Fire Department, when required. Respond on scene to emergency codes and other security-related emergencies; participate in debriefings when requested.Respond to secondary sites as required by the Purchaser. Manage issues at parking lot gates and pay stations. Perform Patient Watch / Rapid Response duties as needed.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsMust have a valid Ontario Security License.High School Diploma required.1-2 years of experience as a security guard.Must be eligible to work in Canada up to 40 hours a week.Good written and oral communication.Good interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.First aid and CPR level C.Certified Use of Force training; certified to use handcuffs.Physical RequirementsRemain on your feet or walk continuously for potentially an entire shift on various surfaces.Occasionally ascend stairs, ramps, or ladders.Knowledge of security and fire emergency procedures; familiarity with hospital emergency procedures.Occasionally bend, twist, or lift up to 40 pounds. Work in varied conditions, including outdoor environments with extreme weather.
