The Manitoba Opioid Support and Treatment (MOST) Program supports individuals who are dependent on opioids by prescribing medication that reduces the symptoms of withdrawal as well as providing counselling and other supports. Services would be offered at Shared Health’s River Point Centre site at 146 Magnus Avenue.Position SummaryAs a part of the MOST team, the counsellor will be included as a member of the interdisciplinary team to deliver trauma support and brief treatment counselling in both short- and longer-term models of engagement. As well, the MOST trauma counsellor will be accessible for consultation processes, and clinical case feedback and support in treatment planning alongside clients and practitioners. While working exclusively at the River Point Centre, the counsellor will be supported through Klinic Community Health Clinical Supervision models (both individual and peer).QualificationsUndergraduate degree in the social sciences, graduate degree preferredA minimum of 2 years direct experience providing in person counselling to children/individuals/families in a supervised clinical settingA minimum of 2 years working with children and familiesA demonstrative understanding of the following: intimate partner violence and the impact on family dynamics, crisis intervention, substance use, mental health, self-harm, trauma and unresolved traumaAwareness and understanding of Strength Based, Person Centered, Trauma Informed, Brief Solution Focused Care and Holistic care practicesHave a thorough baseline understanding of addictions, substance use and harm reductions models of careKnowledge of systems and the impact on children/individuals/familiesExperience working within an anti-oppressive lens, demonstrated cultural humility and how privilege, power and intersectionality impact experience of intimate partner violenceStrong clinical assessment skills and the ability to chart accurate documentation using leading practicesUnderstanding of the role of professional self-reflection in the counselling processAble to work independently as well as contribute to a collaborative team environmentExcellent interpersonal and communication skills [verbal and written]Experience and training in leading support groups is an assetKnowledge of intergenerational trauma is an assetResponsibilitiesProvides counselling to individuals accessing the MOST, opioid substance use and treatment program.Practices and promotes leading practicesMaintains confidentiality and professionalismCreates a safe(r) space for program participantsCompletes intake, assessment, progress reports, summaries, charts and other administrative tasks relevant to the positionParticipates in program development, implementation, monitoring and quality assuranceActively participates in self-development; including evaluations and training opportunitiesEngages in regular clinical supervision and program meetingsConnects clients with internal and external resourcesAdhere to all agency policies, protocols and best practicesPerform other duties and functions related to job description but not exceeding above stated capacitiesRequirementsSatisfactory Criminal Record, Child Abuse and Adult Abuse Registry ChecksCompletion of ASIST TrainingAbility to work Days/Evenings/WeekendsSalary Range: $41.824 per hour - $51.449 per hourKlinic and Shared Health are committed to working towards having a more equitable and diverse workforce at all levels of our organization.
