A professional trade consulting practice that provides creative and effective solutions in regulatory compliance, logistics, and trade data management. Our international trade services include: Import and Export Consulting, Classification, Trade Preference Programs, Duty Mitigation, and Supply Chain Security. As a team, we work to assess complicated situations, maneuver through regulatory hurdles, and implement solutions that meet both the letter of the law and the spirit of your business.Job DescriptionScope of Position: You should have the ability to develop opportunities in the various aspects of customs from our Canadian and international offices. You must be comfortable working closely with clients, staff, the CBSA and other government agencies. Strong communication skills will be required to be able achieve your goals with clients, the government and the team.Classify our clients’ products using a working knowledge and demonstrated ability to properly navigate and interpret the Harmonized Tariff System. You must possess the ability to read, understand and apply the general rules of interpretation (GRI’s), section & chapter notes and have a good understanding of Customs' rulings, including Customs' ruling database.The Senior Consultant will need to understand import valuation and the trade agreements that Canada is a party to. They will need to have the ability to manage their projects and work closely with the team to complete the projects within the requited time limits.Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesHarmonized Tariff Schedule classification of imported productsResearching and interpreting Customs rulings for HS classification determinationEffectively use reference sources, such as the HS Tariff schedule and Explanatory NotesPrepare, submit and manage binding classification ruling requests to the CBSA.Working knowledge of Customs Valuation and its interpretation.Understanding of international trade agreementsUnderstanding of Canadian export regulationsUnderstanding of and experience working within the CBSA CARM Client PortalCommunicating with domestic and international clients’ offices, building and maintaining strong internal and external relationshipsCorresponding with the CBSA.Active participation in the sales process including attending meetings with clients.Prepare and deliver presentations and reports to management, peers and clientsMentor and guide junior team members.Meet company standard of 52 hours of training per yearBe dedicated to the success of Tradewin using ethical business practices at all timesQualificationsEither CCS or CTCS are preferredCanadian Customs Broker License or willingness to actively obtainDemonstrated customer service skills and proven interpersonal skillsMinimum 5 years’ experience in an international trade environmentRequired knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, CRMExcellent verbal and written communication skillsSuperior analytical skills with a strong ability to logically document and explain processesInvestigative and problem-solving skillsAdditional InformationExpeditors offers excellent benefits:Paid Vacation, Holiday, Sick TimeHealth Plan: MedicalLife InsuranceEmployee Stock Purchase PlanTraining and Personnel Development ProgramGrowth opportunities within the companyEmployee Referral Program BonusExpeditors Canada Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and is pleased to accommodate individual needs in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) within our recruitment process upon request.
