Large Civil Contractor is seeking an experienced Operations Manager with 8+ years experience on a large infrastructure projects ($50m+) in Vancouver. Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager provides overall leadership and responsibility for site operations and field personnel, typically involving project execution, production tracking, and resource optimization. The Operations Manager works closely with site supervisors and office staff (superintendents, project managers, estimators). If you’re eager to work on innovative projects, be part of a great team.Key Accountabilities of Operations Manager:Respond to customer needsEnsure project performance aligns with planDevelop improved processesPromote safety culture and ensure that all safety related items are dealt with promptlyDuties & Responsibilities of Operations Manager:Lead the business culture to operate with safety, respect, professionalism, and efficiencySupport and demonstrate companies shared purpose, mission and valuesUnderstand and deliver on each project’s scope of work, ensuring that the project team mitigates risks and enhances opportunitiesConfirm technical approach by consulting with the division’s superintendents and foremenParticipate in the tendering processes as needed, attend bid review meetingsEnsure schedule-driven, resource-loaded project execution plans are developedVerify that the field operations have the facilities, materials, tools and resources to operate efficientlyReview project financial forecasting reports with the project managers and, when needed, make adjustments to resourcing and equipment plans to enhance productivityWork with the project manager and the Health and Safety team through site safety inspections, incident and near-miss reporting, development of site-specific instructions and general safe operating proceduresClearly communicate expectations to team members and stakeholdersBe accountable for project teams’ performance and resultsCommunicate regularly with clients, obtain feedback and focus on client satisfactionParticipate in the recruitment and onboarding of staff, in coordination with the General Manager, HR andQualifications:Successful track record of operational leadership combined with management responsibilities in a companyproviding project management and technical services, preferably with experience in heavy civil contractingRelevant degree or technical diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution, or equivalent experienceThe Operations Manager will have strong project financial management acumen gained in a complex business environmentAble to develop strategies to support the achievement of operational and financial goalsStrong client orientation and confidence to establish immediate credibilityLeadership, team building and excellent communication skillsAbility to manage a broad and diverse set of relationships and networks at all levels of the organizationA high level of professionalism, sense of responsibility and organizational commitmentWork Conditions:Office and field environment, with frequent travel to active project sitesWorking to deadlines, continuous team interaction, troubleshooting and issue resolutionOperations Manager will oversee:Site logisticsConstruction plan and execution strategy, adjustments to the plan as requiredResource tracking and planning - crew and equipmentSubcontractor managementSelf-perform management, ensure operations are on task and achieving objectives/project requirementsAdherence to design, specification, and municipal or other owner requirements (temp and )Cost and schedule control, understanding when and what changes to operations to make to achieve or beat base bid/planField level change managementField level conflict/issue managementOur Client can offer you:Strong commitment to safety in the workplaceGrounded and family-oriented workplace in a progressive environment that is at the forefront of a fast evolving business sectorCommitment to the training and wealth of opportunities for career development across job categories, project types and locations around North AmericaSite office based – fully furnished/equipped, within the Client’s trailer compoundPhysical RequirementsMay be required to work outside of normal work hours on occasion to meet the needs of the businessFrequent travel (mainly Vancouver and Lower Mainland British Columbia)On call for emergencies as neededIdeal CandidateOnly candidates with authorization to work in Canada will be considered.Only exceptional candidates who require sponsorship will be considered for this roleSalary & Package: $180,000+, discretionary bonus (up to 12% depending on unit performance), truck allowance or provided vehicle, gas card, 5% RRSP match, fully paid medical/dental etc programPlease clearly highlight relevant work experience, project overviews and project scale ($) in your resume. #J-18808-Ljbffr
