Reporting to the HD Tech Foreman, the Heavy‑Duty Technician is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical and electrical systems on road construction equipment and light fleet trucks. The role focuses on ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently by reducing downtime and minimizing repair costs. This includes conducting thorough inspections, identifying and resolving issues, and performing preventative maintenance to maximize equipment performance and reliability. How You’ll Add Value Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment Perform routine servicing tasks, including fluid changes, brake replacements, hydraulic hose replacements, and similar maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency Conduct maintenance and repair tasks on on‑road vehicles, including light and heavy‑duty fleet trucks, ensuring they meet safety and operational standards Diagnose, service, and repair mechanical and computer electronic controls, air brake systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems Diagnose and repair hydraulic and electrical circuits efficiently Inspect, repair, and adjust gasoline, propane, and diesel‑powered units Conduct routine maintenance checks, including fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, and clutches Maintain accurate service logs, maintenance records, work orders, and timesheets Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and functional Ensure fleet equipment repairs are completed promptly to minimize downtime Identify, order, and manage required parts and supplies following company processes Perform basic welding repairs, oxy/acetylene torch cutting, and minor fabrication tasks Use equipment like overhead cranes, mobile cranes, and forklifts to support repair tasks Assist with mentoring apprentices and junior technicians Work independently in shop or field environments and adapt to new methods, materials, and processes with supervisor approval What You Bring 5+ years of experience in all aspects of repair and maintenance for highway maintenance equipment Valid Class 3 with air brake endorsement, with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions Possession of a valid CVIP inspection license or the ability to obtain one is required Demonstrated abilities in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of equipment Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment, conducting repair searches, and performing electronic diagnoses Strong focus on delivering high‑quality work with meticulous attention to detail Commitment to achieving high delivery standards in all tasks Experience working with on‑road vehicles is considered an asset Note: Pre‑employment Drug and Alcohol Testing will be required.
