Journeyperson Insulators that live in the Bonnyville/Cold Lake area are preferred. Imperial Oil Cold Lake has been in operation for 45 years and employs close to 400 staff plus over 1,000 contract workers, including those from Indigenous businesses. Covering 780 square kilometers (about 300 square miles), Cold Lake is one of the largest thermally in situ operations in the world and supplies the Strathcona Refinery and refineries across Canada and the United States, producing fuel, asphalt and products that keep life running. Insulators apply, remove and repair thermal and acoustical insulation (e.g., calcium silicate, glass foam, mineral wool, Styrofoam, fiberglass) on all types of industrial equipment (e.g., duct piping, heat exchangers, tanks, vessels). Responsibilities Demonstrate the installation, fitting, fabrication and attachment of insulation, finishing and weatherproofing materials to a high standard of workmanship Measure and cut insulating material to required dimensions using hand and power tools Install soundproofing systems; recognize insulation and air‑barrier systems, materials and their application.
