We have partnered with them to hire a Controller to join their team in Luneburg, Nova Scotia.Operating from a state-of-the-art 27,000-square-foot facility, they blend skilled craftsmanship, advanced technology, and innovative approaches to deliver outstanding results. Their projects include large-scale installations in schools and hospitals, as well as bespoke designs for offices, hotels, and retail spaces. They prioritize collaboration, health and safety, and continuous improvement, hosting an environment where employees thrive.Job SummaryAs the Controller, you will oversee the financial and administrative operations of Nova Wood Product, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis. This role involves collaborating with senior management to support strategic decisions, managing foreign exchange risk, and driving modernization efforts to enhance operational efficiency. You will also ensure compliance with U.S. state-specific financial regulations as Nova Wood Products expands into the U.S. market.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the preparation and maintenance of accurate financial records and reports.Manage budgeting and forecasting processes.Ensure compliance with Canadian and U.S. financial regulations, including state-specific requirements.Conduct financial analysis to inform strategic decision-making.Oversee cash flow management, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.Manage foreign exchange risk and develop strategies to mitigate financial impacts.Drive the modernization of financial processes, including implementing system upgrades.Strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.Liaise with external auditors, banks, and regulatory agencies.Evaluate and optimize financial systems, processes, and reporting tools.Provide financial input on project planning to enhance cost efficiency and profitability.Supervise and support accounting and administrative staff.QualificationsAs the ideal candidate, you are a skilled professional with a CPA designation or equivalent accounting certification and a degree/diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field. You will have 5+ years of experience in a senior accounting role, ideally within a manufacturing or construction environment. A strong grasp of accounting principles, financial reporting, and job costing is essential, along with expertise in managing foreign exchange risk and implementing effective mitigation strategies. Proficiency in accounting software, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and a track record of modernizing financial processes are key requirements. Familiarity with U.S. compliance regulations and ERP systems is an asset.
