Join to apply for the Senior Facilities Engineer I role at Miru. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical or Integrated Engineer to support our growing pilot production facilities. In this hands‑on role you will work closely with cross‑functional teams—design, quality, development, and manufacturing—to translate engineering needs into real‑world solutions that enhance product quality, reliability, and production efficiency. You will also coordinate contractors on site and contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes and equipment. As a senior member of the team you will model ownership, a collaborative mindset, and a proactive approach to work. Commitment to safety, cleanliness, and operational excellence is essential. What You’ll Do Systems, Equipment, & Maintenance Install, commission, and maintain building systems and plant equipment, including R&D chemistry equipment, compressed air systems, inert gas systems, HVAC, water systems, dehumidification systems, vacuum gloveboxes, and custom electrochromic window manufacturing tools. Responsible for continuous improvement of facility arrangement. Perform preventative and reactive maintenance of equipment through implementing solutions hands‑on using technical documentation and tools. Manage procurement of parts, supplies, and tools as needed to maintain operational readiness. Project Execution & Engineering Support the design, fabrication, and integration of custom R&D and manufacturing equipment. Write, execute and own project plans, including defining scope, timeline, and budget. Lead technical projects from concept through completion. Participate in the planning and execution of the new Demonstration Plant facility. Collaboration & Communication Collaborate closely with internal groups to support process and product development. Ensure cross‑functional stakeholders are kept up to date. Provide technical mentorship to more junior team members. Liaise with contractors, consultants, vendors, and equipment manufacturers to ensure project alignment and technical success. Safety & Compliance Adhere to all plant safety policies, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and general lab protocols. Promote and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Qualifications Degree in Mechanical, Integrated, Manufacturing, Maintenance Engineering, or a related field. 5–10 years of relevant hands‑on engineering experience. Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred) for equipment/component design. Familiarity with electrochromic materials and devices is an asset, but not required. Previous project management and contractor management experience is an asset. Technical Skills Strong hands‑on experience with mechanical systems and equipment. Experience disassembling, troubleshooting, and repairing technical systems independently. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and implement actionable improvements. Excellent time management and multitasking skills to manage multiple projects efficiently. Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, agile environment with shifting priorities. Experience working with hand and power tools; ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. Competencies Self‑starter with strong accountability, attention to detail, and ability to work independently under tight deadlines. Hands‑on, solutions‑oriented approach to problem‑solving and design. Creative thinker with an agile mindset and willingness to take initiative. Technical mentorship capabilities, willing to share technical know‑how and support the continued development of team members. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to cross‑functional teams. Effective at driving collaboration with diverse internal and external stakeholders. High regard for workplace safety and commitment to company policies, including Quality Assurance and OHSE standards. Personal interest in technical hobbies (e.g., mechanics, machining, woodworking, crafting, etc.) is a strong asset. Please Note This position requires full‑time, in‑office presence at our Olympic Village locations. Flexibility to occasionally work early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed. Why Miru?
