We are looking to add a Data Analyst to our Individual Data Analytics team. The Data Analyst is a role reporting to the AVP, Data & Analytics. They will play a pivotal role in the lifecycle of delivering insights gained from the extraction and analysis of data to improve business processes, supporting the strategy and goals of Equitable’s Individual business. The bulk of the work will be in data collection and integration, data exploration and preparation, management and problem analysis, and data visualization. This includes infrastructure for data presentation (dashboards, BI tooling, ongoing delivery of report, etc.), and the infrastructure for data hygiene. The newly hired data analyst will be a key interface for the Individual business unit. Candidates need to be very much self-driven, curious, and creative. Reports To AVP, Data & Analytics Department Individual Data Analytics Term Permanent Full-Time Work Arrangements This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement. What you will be doing Working closely with the business and technical teams to identify the definition and analysis of how information assets drive business outcomes Applying detailed knowledge and hands‑on experience of data structures, and data warehousing strategies to contribute to the development and maintenance of business intelligence and reporting tools. Document understanding of how data is turned into knowledge to support business decisions and possess a keen understanding of the business environment Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re‑designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc. Work with a variety of contextual data sources Types: Structured and non‑structured (Image, XML, audio transcription, etc) Create deployment pipeline architecture related to Business Intelligence solutions. Create and manage data pipelined architecture required for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data (ETL) from a wide variety of data sources. Create and manage utilities and data tools used to support Analytics solutions and Data Science team members. Create and manage data models in all their forms including conceptual models, relational database designs, and others. Create data artifacts including defining quality requirements, conceptual and physical data models, ETL processes and data views. Automation / optimization of existing manual processes CI/CD – data operations What you will bring 2+ years of experience in data extraction, leveraging SQL and Python, querying large data sets from multiple sources 2+ years of experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement in data analysis and presentation of insights 2+ years of experience in statistical business analysis 2+ years of experience with BI software programs such as Tableau, Qlik, and Microsoft Power BI 2+ years of experience with Advanced Excel for analyzing data 2+ experience with object‑oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C#, etc. 2+ experience supporting and working with cross‑functional teams in a dynamic environment. Post‑secondary education in Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science or related fields Knowledge and experience with displaying complex quantitative data in a simple, intuitive format and to present findings in a clear and concise manner. Experience with data modelling and navigating data warehouses; Ability to create conceptual, logical and physical data models and diagrams for relational database systems Experience with displaying complex data in a simple, intuitive format Ability to investigate, familiarize and master new data sources quickly Familiar with Active Directory, Database Administration and Infrastructure technologies (networking, addressing, storage, SAN/LAN, backups, security, firewalls, rights management) What’s in it for you Regular EQ Together events focused on company togetherness and collaboration.
