Join to apply for the Data Architect PDA/DA role at Thales Location: Ottawa, Canada (Hybrid) Position Summary Thales requires a Data Architect to shape the technical policy and strategic plan for its Digital Twin product suite, aligning with business objectives and implementing accordingly. As a Data Architect, your primary responsibility will be to design and secure data architectures that ensure the integrity, confidentiality and accessibility of data sourced across multiple platforms and published within a Digital Twin. You will oversee the development of data pipelines and ensure smooth data integration between systems, contributing to the organization’s ability to make data‑driven decisions while maintaining the highest standards of data security and governance. The role involves leading the definition, evolution and design of mission‑critical systems. Build professional teams from external partners and internal resources. Communicate technical solutions to all audiences and earn the trust of critical systems operators. Key Areas of Responsibility Data Architecture and Product Design Design and maintain a scalable data product and architecture that meets business goals while ensuring security, compliance, and performance. Document the structure, integration, and flow of data between systems, applications, and services. Contribute to the Technology & Innovation strategy by eliciting needs from business lines and aligning with Thales Group initiatives. Data Integration & Pipeline Management Collaborate with the project team to integrate data from various sources, ensuring data is accessible, accurate, and aligned with business objectives. Lead the design, development, and optimization of data pipelines to ensure smooth and efficient data flow across platforms and systems. Technology & Tool Selection Work with critical system operators to capture key value and pain points. Evaluate and select tools, technologies, and platforms for building and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring alignment with long‑term scalability, performance, and security needs. Stay informed on emerging trends and technologies in data integration, architecture, and governance to keep systems adaptable and future‑proof. System Security, Monitoring & Optimization Develop frameworks for continuous monitoring and optimization of data systems and pipelines. Ensure monitoring tools and dashboards are in place to track the health and performance of data systems, proactively identifying and addressing issues. Minimum Qualifications Undergraduate degree in software engineering, computer science or related field. Strong experience in data architecture, data modeling, data integration, and the design of data pipelines. Expertise in cloud‑based platforms, data management, and enterprise application integration. Experience collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders such as IT, Innovation and data teams to align data solutions with business objectives. Ability to stay current with the latest trends in data system architecture and integration technologies. Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in modern tools and technologies for data integration, pipeline management, and system performance monitoring. Experience with architecture frameworks (e.g., DNDAF, TOGAF, DoDAF, NAF). Experience with military (ideally Navy). Experience with enterprise systems / ERPs such as SAP, IBM Maximo. Experience with artificial intelligence techniques and toolsets. Occasional travel to the East or West Coast.
