We tackle critical platform challenges at the application layer — helping backend engineers ship robust, maintainable services through scalable frameworks, secure dependency management, and world-class tooling. This team drives the backbone of developer productivity at Robinhood.As a Senior Software Developer, you’ll lead projects that elevate engineering velocity, safety, and code quality across all backend services. You’ll be hands-on with tools like Django, staticcheck, mypy, and ruff — while mentoring engineers and shaping the technical strategy for core platform components like service bootstrapping, formatting pipelines, and IDE support. You’ll partner closely with Infrastructure and Product teams to drive large-scale migrations, optimize workflows, and push the boundaries of what’s possible for backend development at RobinhoodThe role is located in the office location(s) listed on this job description which will align with our in-office working environment. Please connect with your recruiter for more information regarding our in-office philosophy and expectations.What you’ll doDesign and lead high-impact projects to improve frameworks, common libraries, and the backend development lifecycleOwn and evolve core tooling used across the monorepo — including static analysis, code formatting, and project scaffoldingBuild delightful developer experiences with enhanced IDE plugins (VSCode, Goland, PyCharm) and interface definition tools like ProtobufDrive best practices in backend architecture through standardization, automation, and opinionated defaultsMentor engineers across the org and champion team values like “Start with Why” and “Easy to Make the Right Choice”Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align on tooling investments, migration strategies, and security improvementsWhat you bringSignificant experience building scalable backend systems in Go and/or PythonDeep familiarity with server-side frameworks such as Django or Go-based systemsStrong track record designing or maintaining internal developer platforms or shared infrastructureExperience mentoring engineers, guiding technical decisions, and contributing to team-wide strategiesPassion for developer productivity, quality engineering practices, and thoughtful abstractionOur team is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming interview experience for all candidates.
