About us:
The office of Jamil Jivani, Member of Parliament for Durham, is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Constituency Assistant position.
Operating under MP Jivani’s leadership, our office is an exciting place to work. We are a team of motivated professionals committed to offering a variety of services to constituents of Durham.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as the point of contact to constituents and respond to their questions and requests in a timely and efficient manner;
- Draft correspondences and letters of recognition for constituents;
- Build relationships with constituents, local government offices and community partners by communication via email, over the phone and in person;
- Liaise with various federal government services on behalf of constituents to obtain more information as well as to seek and achieve resolution;
- Manage Bowmanville office and administrative tasks such as voicemail, email, and mail;
- Other tasks as they arise;
- Attend events with the Member of Parliament and staff.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
- Ability to manage competing priorities, and adapt to new situations;
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Superior verbal and written communication skills;
- Exceptional judgment and interpersonal skills, and the ability to exercise diplomacy when interacting with the public and stakeholders.
Assets:
- French language proficiency would be considered an asset;
- Strong local knowledge of the Durham riding;
- Experience dealing with senior officials and/or parliamentarians.
