Lead V&V Engineer Actalent•Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Job Title: Lead V&V Engineer Job Description The Lead V&V Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the verification and validation of naval communications systems used in both military and commercial applications, as part of the Canadian Surface Combatant program. Responsibilities Interact with product owners, development teams, and stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of the product and testing objectives. Participate in design reviews to ensure design requirements are testable. Define test specifications for systems or integration functionalities ranging from low to complex. Develop and document test plans, execute tests, and generate detailed reports. Establish the test and validation environment, which includes script development and potentially contacting vendors for samples and quotations. Develop and execute automated tests to cover functionality and diagnostic requirements. Communicate critical issues and provide status updates promptly. Debug test failures and perform root cause analysis. Train individuals involved in verification and validation activities as needed. Essential Skills Experience in systems engineering. Proficiency in verification and validation processes. Requirements gathering and analysis. Experience as a V&V/Systems Engineering Lead. Requirements management for software/hardware and electronics. Planning and budgeting experience. Experience in defense, naval, aerospace, or satellite communications (Satcom). Proficiency with DOORS. System integration expertise. Experience with test plans, test procedures, and requirements management. Additional Skills & Qualifications Full‑cycle systems engineering experience. Experience with communication systems such as VHF, UHF, and Satcom. Work Environment This role requires on‑site presence 4‑5 days per week. The Lead V&V Engineer will work closely with embedded software designers, hardware designers, product owners, and stakeholders to plan and execute test iterations, track and report results, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate resolutions. The position offers the opportunity to lead the V&V team within a reputable defense industry company involved in one of the largest shipbuilding programs in Canadian history. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ottawa, ON. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $85.00/hr.
